Abstract

Purpose: The purpose of this study is to identify the relationship between global citizenship and global health competencies in nursing students and utilize the basic data for development of educational program to improve global health competence.

Methods: A convenience sample of 215 subjects were invited from K university in B city. Data were analyzed using t-test, ANOVA and Pearson¡¯s Correlation with SPSS PC 18.0 program.

Results: The mean score of global citizenship was 4.06¡¾0.51 (5 scale) and that of global health competence was 2.72¡¾0.45 (4 scale). The global health competencies of nursing students showed a significantly positive correlation of global citizenship (r=.44, p£¼.01)

Conclusion: The results from this study suggest that global citizenship should be considered as the main influential factor when we develop educational programs to increase the global health competencies for nursing students.
